Open Heavens: Any Commitment?
Continue for today's devotion.
This is the main reason most of us claim not to see the works of the Lord in our lives, and it all comes down to one question... "How committed are you to the Lord?"

Open Heavens: Wine, Not For Kings
Memory Verse: It is not for kings, O Lemuel, it is not for kings to drink wine; nor princes strong drink (Proverbs 31:4)
Read: Proverbs 31:3-4
pro 31:3 Give not thy strength unto women, nor thy ways to that which destroyeth kings.
Pro 31:4 It is not for kings, O Lemuel, it is not for kings to drink wine; nor for princes strong drink:
Message:
Non alcoholic wines are okay but should be taken in moderation (Ephesians 5:18). Anything you take in, no matter how good, if taken in excess will definitely cause some kind of trouble, even water.

Open Heavens: Alcohol & Immorality
Memory Verse: Thine eyes shall behold strange women, and thine heart shall utter perverse things.Proverbs 23:33
Read.Proverbs 23:29-35
Pro 23:29 Who hath woe? who hath sorrow? who hath contentions? who hath babbling? who hath wounds without cause? who hath redness of eyes?
Pro 23:30 They that tarry long at the wine; they that go to seek mixed wine.
Pro 23:31 Look not thou upon the wine when it is red, when it giveth his colour in the cup, when it moveth itself aright.
Pro 23:32 At the last it biteth like a serpent, and stingeth like an adder.
Pro 23:33 Thine eyes shall behold strange women, and thine heart shall utter perverse things.
Pro 23:34 Yea, thou shalt be as he that lieth down in the midst of the sea, or as he that lieth upon the top of a mast.
Pro 23:35 They have stricken me, shalt thou say, and I was not sick; they have beaten me, and I felt it not: when shall I awake? I will seek it yet again.
Message
Ephesians 5:18 (Do not get drunk on wine, which leads to debauchery. Instead, be filled with the Spirit), says you should be filled with the Holy Spirit and not with wine. That means, you should be so full of the Spirit that there will be no room for any spirit of liquor to occupy. If you are not full of the Holy Spirit and you drink beer or alcohol, you cannot avoid confusion. Those who take alcohol will most likely find sexual sins attractive. Some of them have as a result gone into incestuous intercourse with their daughters or relatives or even rape. Alcohol makes one more vulnerable to sexual sins. If you were struggling with your flesh and you start taking alcohol, you will descend into a deeper level of bondage. Verse 33 of today's reading says,
“Thine eyes shall behold strange women, and thine heart shall utter perverse things.”
Some Christians will build their personal houses and instead of creating a prayer room there, they will have a bar where they will stock different kinds of wines. When you try to dissuade them, even their wives will rise up in their defence. Don't be surprised to find that they are already having mistresses outside, and if care is not taken, the strange women that are now more appealing to them may drive away their legitimate wife and take over. That shall not be your portion!
The truth is, any Christian sister who allows her husband to drink alcohol is simply setting the stage for strange things to happen in her home. Is your husband saying, 'It is just a little harmless sip once in a long while', remember a little occasional sip today will become an uncontrollable gush tomorrow. Be warned! In addition, having a bar in a Christian home completely negates the ethics of godliness. It is an invitation to the spirit of liquor to have its permanent abode in that house. That house will no longer have peace! Having a bar in your home is having an altar for Satan in that home. You can be sure that the Holy Spirit will simply step aside. Believers' homes should be identified by the serenity of the place and by the provision of a prayer room for God. You should have an altar where God will meet with you daily. If you don't, convert your bar or one of your rooms into such an altar for the King of kings today!
Key point
If you truly want Jesus Christ living in your house, remove all thrones you have created for the devil.

Hey guys, hope you had a great week and a fun weekend, yet another week starts tomorrow... sigh.
Just wanted to leave you guys with a link to bible verses about drinking and getting drunk here you should go through it to further understand what the bible says. Drink but do not be drunk. The verses say a lot and give you a greater understanding of it all. Hope you have a great week ahead.
Happy Mother's Day to my Lovely Mother and all the Mothers and Mothers to be out there! This picture is about 2 years old, my hair was still really short.
My fave old school picture of my mum.
In other news, I might be MIA on the blog for a little while because I've been getting really busy but believe me I WILL TRY when I have the time. I really don't want to mess it up honestly, so I need to be very careful with time and everything else. I know I've been on a roll with the constant blog post almost everyday through last month and this month so far so please give me some credit for that :)
I'll be back in full force soon enough... so please bear with me.

Open Heavens: Confused Guidance
Memory Verse: And be not drunk with wine wherein is excess; but be filled with the Spirit. Ephesians 5:18
Read:1 Corinthians 12:13-14
1Co 12:13 For by one Spirit are we all baptized into one body, whether we be Jews or Gentiles, whether we be bond or free; and have been all made to drink into one Spirit.
1Co 12:14 For the body is not one member, but many.
Message
A significant thing worthy of note in the story of Ahasuerus in Esther 1 is that we should beware of substances capable of influencing our emotions or decisions. What the king would not normally do, he did under the influence of wine. Alcohol has done so much harm to people today. Several individuals and families are victims of alcoholic drinks. As a result of alcohol, many families are experiencing degradation of their living standard, non payment of children's school fees, attraction to extra-marital affairs, and other vices.

Seek Right
I took this from the daily devotional written by Pastor E.A Adeboye, I was really touched by it and I hope you'll be too. Many times we loose sight of what's important and I pray that this will remind everyone what the one important thing is so we all stop chasing shadows. Amen.

SEEKRIGHT
Memory Verse: But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these thing shall be added unto you. Matthew 6:33
Read: Matthew 6:31-33
Mat 6:31† Therefore take no thought, saying, What shall we eat? or, What shall we drink? or, Wherewithal shall we be clothed?
Mat 6:32† (For after all these things do the Gentiles seek:) for your heavenly Father knoweth that ye have need of all these things.
Mat 6:33† But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.
†
Message
When you are very happy, watch your actions or else you will become a victim of that happiness. The target of true followers of Christ is not just happiness but joy. Hence, the Lord in Matthew 6:33 says,
ìBut seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.î
and Paul by the Holy Ghost in Romans 14:17 defined the kingdom of God to encompass joy.
ìFor the kingdom of God is not meat and drink; but righteousness, and peace, and joy in the Holy Ghost.î
If you chase after things, the best you can get is happiness. You can never find God when in pursuit of material things. If however you are pursuing God, not only will you find God and everlasting joy, you will also have material things you never struggled for. Which is better? To pursue things and have material blessings but lose God and Heaven, or to seek after God and have Him, joy, material things and eternity with Him in Heaven? What is your choice?
ìAnd they that use this world, as not abusing it: for the fashion of this world passeth away.î
1 Corinthians 7:31
Another truth here is that those who are chasing things hold strongly to material things. They think they have a hold on things but the reality is that material things have taken them captive. It has become a stronghold in their lives. Of such, Jesus says in Mark 10:24:
ìAnd the disciples were astonished at his words. But Jesus answereth again, and saith unto them, Children, how hard is it for them that trust in riches to enter into the kingdom of God!î
In other words, they may feel that because they worked so hard for the money, they will need to justify every cent, penny or kobo they spend from it. It might get to a point where unknown to them, they begin to idolise or worship money. When you trust in your wealth saying in your heart that there is nothing to fear about sickness, hunger, lack, etc. your heart has left God. If you find it difficult to pay your tithe, give a generous offering or sow into God's kingdom, it is evidence that you are pursuing things and most probably serving them. Such people, irrespective of where they find themselves will almost worship people of means. They want to continue to amass wealth and be sure that their bank accounts are swelling. Anytime they suffer a loss, they lose their happiness. And if they suffer a major loss, they will want to kill themselves. Material things are a shadow. Stop chasing shadows because you can never catch one. Start to chase the real thing. Start to seek for God and how you can enlarge His Kingdom, and you will have beyond your bargain.
Key Point
There are things you will seek which will make you lose what's most important. Seek right!
