Product Review: Body Shop Skincare

A while ago I went into Body Shop t see if I could get some products to work for my skin cuz whatever I was doing wasn't working. I've always tried to keep it simple with things I do to my skin, hair and everything else. My hair was doing great and enjoying it but for my skin it just wasn't working out. So now, meet my Body Shop holy grail! :)

Face wash: Tea Tree Blackhead Exfoliating Wash

I really like this product honestly, I never believed in tea tree till this (and the blemish gel). I like that I feel the tingling in my skin when washing (and using the gel), makes me feel the product is really working! I use this every morning and after that I use the next product to moisturize.

Moisturizer: Seaweed Mattifying Moisture Lotion SPF 15

Love it! I don't have really oily skin but this helps with my tea zone area which I wear I'm oily the most. It's not too thick and overwhelming, well except you use too much but it's just right for my skin and helps me control oil to an extent. Every time I want to replace mine, it's always sold out in the store! I always have to order online so I'm guessing I'm not the only one loving this product!

Random: Sometimes I do this thing where I buy the product that's almost gone on the shelf especially when I havent tried the brand/product before and they have a wide range of products/flavors e.g. Chips or drinks, yea it's mostly food and it always works!

Spot treatment: Tea Tree Blemish Gel (my personal fave)

No seriously this thing zaps spots over night and it really helped me because I seemed to have tiny pimples on the right side of my face and my forehead. They weren't a lot but this just helped me focus on each one. All I had to do was apply it on the problem areas after washing (with the tea tree wash) at night and the next morning, it's gone! Well not really maybe after two nights lol.

Conclusion: Of all products I'd strongly recommend the blemish gel. You really don't need to buy everything, I just find that the combination of all three has worked wonders for my face (combination skin) and I thought I'd share. I still use simple wipes to take off my make up at night. Book Review: The Spider King's Daughter by Chibundu Onuzo

I finished reading it yesterday and I loved it. After some point I really didn't want to put it down, I kept wanting more.  Honestly I wish it didn't end but then what else could have happened. It's about "Runner G", a Lagos hawker that was born with a silver spoon but later looses it all as a result of his fathers death and "Abike", a rich man's daughter who is blind to so many negative things her father has done for his success and somehow it's all related to Runner G and others in his life. Somehow they meet and take a liking to each other and one thing leads to another to another and another... Of course Runner G wasn't prepares for all he was about to find out in this little relationship he had going on with Abike but later on it's all revealed somehow and the outcome is NOT Pretty!

I'm really not going to give it all away. I really loved it because there were bits and bobs I could relate to like liking someone and how it feels, the initial excitement. I also loved the nostalgic feeling I got when the author described Lagos and some little tings associated with us Nigerians, the broken english and so many other things. I be Edo babe but I'm a Lagos girl still, born and bred.

Carol's Daughter Review

When I went to Lagos I bought two products from the Amaila Hair Care stand at Le Petit Marché and both were from Carol's Daughter. I've always wanted to try their products but I just never got around to doing it cuz it's not easily accessible here. Anyhoo...

I got the Carol's Daughter Loc Butter

And the Carol's Daughter Black Vanilla Leave-In Conditioner

First thing I love about both products is the both smell reeeeeally nice esp the leave-in with the vanilla scent. Honestly I hate it when hair products smell bad, it might not do what it says and leave my hair looking a hot mess but at least let it make my hair smell nice, I can't have fugly hair that smells bad at the same damn time!!!

British Curlies Order & Review

Remember me saying I ordered some natural hair products cuz I was thinking of taking out my twists? I got them and I've used them and they were pretty good for my first try the only thing I don't like is the thickening moisture mist cuz it doesn't dry over night! I tried it on a twist out after washing my hair and I woke up with the worst twist out in all the 2 years of my being natural, like ever! Had to do an updo to cover up the mess (I'll show you that in another post) and I ended up being late for the programme I was going to that day smh.
Well the shampoo and conditioner are both lovely, the shampoo doesn't strip my hait and leave it dry. The conditioner was great for detangling as well and the both smell ok. I used the deep treatment masque for deep conditioning it was really good and it smells ok. To be honest I've smelt better things but hey it's not like they have a disgusting smell it's just OK.
The 100% organic shea butter... Now THAT is a product! Smells great, wonderful ingredients and its really nice on my hair as well, I LOVE IT! I even found myself using it on my hands, yes it is that nice!
The give free samples with every order so that's what the little white bottle with hibiscus written on it is.It's a mizture of oils are it's really nice and smell amazing. Successful marketing strategy because I used it for my twist-out-gone-wrong-turned-into-an-updo style and I liked it a lot. If I keep using it I just might get a bigger bottle depending on the price.

Book review: Redeeming Love by Francine Rivers.

This book was originally my mum's and it's been passed around my family for a few years now, almost like an emblem. Well I read it this summer and fell in love with it and I'd recommend it for anyone looking for a good Christian book on God's unfailing love for us, His children. Yes it is a Christian book but the story is very romantic, it's based on the story of Hosea in the Bible. If you aren't familiar with him the maybe you really should read the book, it's a great way to update yourself on the story of Hosea while learning a valuable lesson on God's love.
